Last 27 July 2013, Saturday, ERDA Technical Vocational and Secondary School held a medical mission for its faculty/staff, students and their families. The community’s nearby residents were also welcomed. At 7 o’clock in the morning, the school began accepting people.
The first part of the event was the registration. Next was the getting of vital signs led by Ms. Luzviminda Moncog, the school nurse with the cooperation of the Health Auxiliary Team. Individuals who are 20 years old and below were no longer required to get a blood pressure test. A number was given to the patients before heading to the waiting area. There were three types of medical services offered; first was optical, second was derma, and the last was the medical consultation. The prescribed medicines by doctors were given at the temporary pharmacy built for the occasion. Before the patients left, there were also freebies given to them.
Ms. Earth Philippines 2013 winners Angelee Delos Reyes (Ms. Philippines Earth), Kimverlyn Suiza (Ms. Philippines Air), Alma Cabasal (Ms. Philippines Fire), and Bernadette Aguirre (Ms. Philippines Eco-Tourism) came to help and support the event as well. They served the people by assisting the elderly, entertaining the children, and providing medicines. Miss Philippines Earth 2013 Angelee Delos Reyes said, “We are beauty queens for a cause. We are to help people through charity and save humanity and Mother Earth.”
The medical mission was organized by Xavier School Class of ’88, led by Mr. Jeff Choa, Batch Chairman. This event materialized through the cooperation and support of Tau Mu Sigma Phi UST Medicine and Surgery volunteer doctors, together with XS Class of ’88 volunteer doctors and the sponsors who provided the medicines and freebies. These people took part of the past fundraising events organized by XS Class of ’88.
According to Mr. Choa, ERDA Tech was recommended by Fr. Aristotle Dy, S.J. as he believes that a lot of people will benefit from this event, not only the ERDA Tech community but also the people outside the institution.
