Re: Relief Operations for Typhoon Maring Victims

In view of the disrupted Quarterly Test schedule and in the hope that our students’ QT preparations are not further disrupted, we are focusing Xavier School’s relief efforts on monetary donations. Likewise, given the unstable weather condition, it is most prudent not to involve our students in full-scale relief work.

The High School Student Council has been assigned to take the lead in asking the students to collect voluntary contributions from their families. Class Advisers will receive these contributions on Thursday and forward them to the Accounting Office. Checks should be made payable to Xavier School, Inc. The funds will either be turned over to relief agencies or used to purchase relief goods for affected members of the Xavier School community and other people in need.

In this hour of great need and in deep solidarity with those affected by the floods, I call on the entire Xavier School community to be one in prayer. At exactly 8 o’clock every evening for the next days, let us light a candle in our homes and offer prayers for the flood victims as well as our deliverance from this calamity.

School Masses this week, including the QT noon Masses, will also be offered for these special intentions.

Let me take this opportunity to thank our students, faculty, alumni and parents who have shown great generosity and concern in offering their help.

Please let me know if you have suggestions and concerns.

(Sgd.) Xavier L. Olin, SJ
