November 20, 2013
Dear Parents of Kinder to Grade 6 Students,
Greetings! As a way of responding to the call to help children affected by the recent typhoon, the GS Student Council, in coordination with the SAP and in partnership with 1001 Bear Hugs, has come up with “SHARE A TOY AND BOOK DRIVE” that will run from November 21 – 29, 2013. Through this drive, we hope that the students’ awareness of the current situation will challenge them to get more involved in reaching out to other children, as well as bring Christmas joy to the children in the areas affected by Typhoon Yolanda.
1. Each student will be encouraged to bring a stuffed toy (or any toy which is not battery operated) that they will personally choose from their set of toys or a book from their personal library to share with the children affected by the recent typhoon. Please choose toys and books that are in good and usable condition. These might even be toys and books that you are still using but you opt to give them up for the children affected by the recent typhoon.
2. In order to personalize the sharing for both the giver and the receiver, please write a short message of hope or personal prayer, preferably in Filipino, to the child who will receive the toy/ book and attach it to the item. (For the books, please paste your short message or prayer of hope on the inside cover.) You may use one of the messages below or you may make your own message. Please put your name, grade level, and school location at the end of your message or personal prayer.
Example: Para sa aking bagong kaibigan, palagi kitang ipagdarasal.
– Kurt, Grade 5, San Juan, MM
Other Possible messages:
“Kumusta ka na? Sana mabawasan ang iyong lungkot ng simpleng regalong ito.”
“Palagi kitang ipagdarasal.”
“ Sana maayos na ang inyong kalagayan.”
“Huwag ka ng malungkot. Tutulungan ka ng Diyos.”
“Ingat ka lagi.”
“Babantayan ka lagi ni Jesus.”
“Magiging maayos din ang lahat para sa inyo.”
3. Bring these toys and books to school from November 21 until November 29, 2013.
4. Drop boxes:
For Kinder and Grade 1: Two big boxes will be provided at Gate 6 near the guard’s counter. Deposit your books and toys in these boxes before going to your classroom.
For Grades 2 – 6: There will be two big boxes, one for toys and one for books that will be provided near the Guidance Counselor’s offices. Put your donations in the appropriate box. Students who arrive after 7:30 AM may deposit their toys and books donations during recess time. All donations will be collected every day after recess.
Thank you for your generosity and let us all continue to pray for and help those affected by Typhoon Yolanda.
