XS San Juan HSPO: Mass of the Holy Spirit (Red Mass) on 20 June, Friday, 4:30 – 6:00 P.M.

18 June 2014

Dear Parents of High School Xaverians,

Peace of Christ! The High School community gathers together for the Red Mass, our traditional Mass of the Holy Spirit, on Friday, June 20, 2014, 4:30-6:00 P.M. This mass, which will be presided by our school president, Fr Aristotle Dy, S.J. at the Sports Center, is our way of giving thanks for the gift of a new school year and invoking the Spirit that keeps us alive.

As we observe our cherished tradition, we also continue to practice innovation. And so this year, we celebrate the Red Mass late in the afternoon to allow for a candle-lighting and blessing ritual that coincides with sunset. Together with the specially chosen songs and other unique features of this Mass, this, we hope, will give our students and our faculty a moving experience of Catholic worship.

In this light, we request that you make the necessary fetching arrangement for your sons since they will be dismissed at 6:00 P.M. on Friday. We also encourage them to bring a RED SHIRT that they can wear during the mass.

Please be assured that during the Mass, as we pray for the intentions of the different sectors of the Xavier community, prayers will be offered for you and your special intentions as well.

Let me take this opportunity to thank you for your constant support for our shared mission of forming the minds and hearts of our young men. Luceat Lux!

In Our Lord,

Fr. Xavier L. Olin,S.J.
