From January 13-16, 2015, the Jesuit Basic Education Commission hosted the first ever Ignatian Youth Camp (IYC) at Ateneo de Manila University, where more than 800 students from Jesuit schools across the nation gathered in the spirit of friendship and shared spirituality.
In the spirit of Ignatian brotherhood, 20 Xaverian senior high volunteers, headed by Scott L. Chua and accompanied by Mrs. Cathy Lauengco, HS Guidance, trooped to the Ateneo to facilitate the Amazing Race. With the guidance of Mr. Kenneth Gan, Mr. James Rivera, and Mr. Renz Lukban of the HS Student Activities and Programs office, these volunteers had prepared a series of games and challenges for participants to more deeply understand the life and mission of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
The Amazing Race stations were sprawled all over campus; participants fished for flags at the pool, played blindfolded-tag in the field, and raced through the marble relay in the shade of the seminary. After every game, team leaders guided the participants through a reflection session.
Though exhausting, the two days were nothing short of memorable. Volunteers, continue to let your light shine! Luceat lux!
