Dating. What is the real purpose or objective of dating? Is it to make someone fall in love? Is it to give someone a flower or a chocolate bar or go to a restaurant? Is it to spend time with your friends? Actually, these are all true, both of you are dating because you want him or her to fall in love with you since you both like each other, you give someone a flower or a chocolate bar or you take him or her to a fancy restaurant because he or she is important to you and you love that person, and you spend your time with your friends because it is some kind of a quality time with each other. These are all because of love, love exists everywhere and felt by everyone, to God, your family, your friends, your partners and other things that you love. But, what does the word of God tell us about dating?

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you but not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 teaches us first, to be patient, know your priorities in life, whether it is for education or for work. At a very young age, we must set aside having a girlfriend or a boyfriend first, but if you really want to start dating then, here are some tips in order for your relationship to be pleasing for the Lord.

First, you must know whom you’ll love. God will tell you who, when, and where, it may be at the wrong place but in the right time or otherwise, as it was written on the passage. “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5 tells us how we should deal with dating, we must ask God first, if he or she is the right one, if we shall break up with him or her, and for sure, He will give the best answer. I’ve read a quotation saying that a guy must court God first, before the girl, which is true and practical, because it’s all about God.

Here are some tips for girls, on whom you shall choose. Based on an article, there is a big difference about a Christian guy and a Man of God. A Christian guy/girl  might say he loves you, but a Woman/Man of God will love God more than you. Christian guys/girls might text you Bible verses, or have a tattoo of them, but a Woman/Man of God will live out those verses and have them written on his heart. A Christian guy/girl might go to church, but a Woman/Man of God will see that his highest calling is to give Christ glory. A Christian guy/girl might accidentally compromise your virtue, but a Woman/Man of God will protect it above all else. A Christian guy/girl might be super attractive, but a Woman/Man of God will have a beautiful heart, regardless of his/her looks. A Christian guy/girl might take you out, but a Woman/Man of God will hold you up before God in his prayers. Hopefully, we can all understand how God wants our relationship to be.

“So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart,” 2 Timothy 2:22. In conclusion, “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on it’s own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Happy Valentines Day! Go and send love to everyone!
