Diary of a Fencer: Pinoy Pride

Sandro Sia (G8-J) recently won the bronze medal in Hong Kong as he competed in the U14 Allstar Asian Fencing Championships last August 2-3, 2015. Below is a short narrative made by Sandro.

I recently got the opportunity to represent our school and country in Hong Kong as I competed in the U14 Allstar Asian Fencing Championships last August 2-3, 2015. I was able to meet and play against other fencers from Hong Kong, China, and Singapore. It is such a great feeling to be able to represent the Philippines and give pride and honor to my school, too.

The competition was for 14 years old and below. Though I had just turned 13, I gave my best and thought of all the hard training I did to prepare for this. With prayers, positive thinking, and my eagerness to win, I won the BRONZE medal with a score of 15-9 against K. H. Ng of Hong Kong.

I am grateful to be given the chance to compete abroad. I am able to meet new people and at the same time challenge myself to do better each and every competition. I am thankful for such a loving and supportive family, a strict and determined coach (Ricky Brando) and a supportive school for introducing and getting me into this sport. Most of all, I thank God for giving me this blessing.
