Last July 26, 2015, I participated in the annual Batang Pinoy competition. Batang Pinoy is the Philippines’ National Youth Games, so all participants were aged 15 and below. I trained long and hard for this competition, and I really wanted to win something.
On the day of the tournament itself, I was nervous. But this is the reason for all my training, so I tried to calm myself. I cleared my mind, focused, and at the end of the day, I won a bronze medal. I was defeated by Lance Tan, a Fil-Am based in America who decided to join this year’s Youth Games.
I was proud to be able to represent my school in this competition. Because of my achievement here and my team’s achievements in other tournaments, we are now being acknowledged as a school to be reckoned with in Philippine fencing. Thanks to my coaches, parents and school. To God be the Glory!
