XS Students Win in Local and International Math Competitions

In the General Assemblies held last August 18 and 28, the following announcements were made naming several students who won in national and international Math competitions:

August 18, 2015 GENERAL ASSEMBLY:

This year’s 2015 China International Mathematics Competition (CIMC) was participated in by more than a thousand contestants comprising the 174 teams for Key Stage III (High School) from 29 countries and territories: Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cyprus, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Nepal, The Netherlands, Philippines, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zimbabwe. It was held in Changchun, Jilin Province, China last July 27 to  August 1, 2015. Our very own Ryan Mark Shao (G9C) got a Gold Medal in the Individual category and 2nd runner-up for team and group categories. 

The 12th China Southeast Mathematical Olympiad (CSMO) was held in Fu-an, Fujian, China last July 25 to 30, 2015. Xuanye Li of G10C got a Merit Award.


The 25th Grace Mathineers Interscholastic Competition (GMATIC) was the annual Inter-School Math competition organized by Grace Christian College, QC held last July 23, 2015. 15 schools in Metro Manila participated in the event. For the Math Quiz, team category, Xavier School got 4th place. The members of the group are Sedrick Scott Keh (G11A), Mark Christopher Uy (G11A) and Matthew Johann Uy (G11D).


The school also joined in the Math Amazing Race that was participated in by Kobi Christian Go (H4H) and Jarred Co (H4I) who bagged 2nd place. Their coach is Mr. Dale Pradel of the SHS Math department.


The International Mathematics Competition (IMC)–Singapore held last July 31 to August 3, 2015 was participated in by Leonardo O. Ngan (G10C), Richwynn Cedric Ong (G7B) and Isaac Theodore Siy (G8A). They all received bronze medals.


August 28, 2015 GENERAL ASSEMBLY:

Last August 14 to 17, 2015, 426 participants from 12 countries joined the 2015 Singapore International Mathematics Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC). Two Xaverians participated and received awards. Matthew Shawn Kho Tansiongkun (G7C) won Silver Medal and Alexander Bernard Go (G10B)  received Honorable Mention.
