The third week of September 2015 was event-filled as FPTI-ERDA Tech held its annual Founder’s Week celebration. During the general assembly on September 14, the school community watched the video “A Million Thanks” which is about the life and mission of FPTI-ERDA Tech founder Father Pierre Tritz. From September 14 to 16, students performed song numbers at the school canteen.
Likewise, on September 17 and 18, the school held its sportsfest. The students were randomly assigned to four competing groups: Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow. The events included basketball, volleyball, chess, scrabble, Game of the Generals, and Philippine games.
The grade 10 students in Mrs. Michelle Testa’s Economics class also set up stalls and sold various products such as pandesal pizza, barbecue, sandwiches, cheese sticks, french fries, fruit drinks, sago con yelo, and key chains featuring Father Pierre Tritz.
On Friday morning, Father Aristotle Dy, SJ, president of Xavier School and FPTI-ERDA Tech, together with Father Munching de Guzman, SJ celebrated the mass in honor of Father Pierre Tritz’s 101st birthday. Sponsors, industry partners, parents, and alumni arrived to join the students, faculty, and staff in this momentous occasion. Of course, the birthday celebrator, Father Tritz, was there to receive all the outpouring of praise and gratitude for his noble mission.
After the mass, there was a short program hosted by two FPTI-ERDA Tech students: Marcus Justin Belisario of V – Mahinahon and Zandra Lorraine Quisao of Grade 10 – Kalayaan at the basketball court which featured songs and dances from the students and teachers.
At lunch time, everyone proceeded to the classrooms for a hearty meal brought by the students themselves and by Wendy’s Philippines too, and in the afternoon the awarding ceremony for the sportsfest was held.
Indeed, it was a hectic yet very happy week for the school community, specially the students who longed for similar fun events to be held in school more frequently.
The hardworking founder’s week committee includes Miss Reichelle Torricer (Chair), Mrs. Marge Antonio, Mrs. Michelle Testa, Miss Chyryz Valiente, Miss Jesselyn Buendia, and Mr. Marvin Sarmiento.
