On Friday, December 18, at 6:30pm, the Happiness Matters Foundation is organizing a block screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Promenade, Greenhills Shopping Center for the benefit of the San Nicolas Toy Library in Era Village. Tickets are P350 each and include a drink and a bag of chips. To avail of a ticket, payment can be given to the Accounting Office at Xavier School.
The Happiness Matters Foundation is composed of a group of senior year students in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program who have organized the block screening as part of the IB program’s Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS) requirement. The senior year students involved are Christian Cheng, Kerwin Tan, Jason Tan, Kyler Ng, Hans Garcia, Sebastian Di, Ethan Sy, Joseph Chua, Andrew Chua, Miguel Lopez, Sean Chan, Kobi Go, and Simone Salvador. According to Simone Salvador, one of the organizers, the Toy Library was selected as a beneficiary as the students involved believed that giving toys to the children of Era Village would act as a meaningful way to spread joy in the community. Simone said, “We in the foundation place the kids as our utmost priority. Although we also take into consideration the entire families of those we are supporting, we believe that everyone deserves to have a meaningful childhood, and that happiness matters.”
