Re: New Provider for Xavier Swimming Program
I would like to inform the community that following a review of the Xavier Swimming Program, our partner effective June 1, 2016, will be the Bert Lozada Swim School (BLSS). Our contract is for a period of two years.
To arrive at this decision, I asked the Athletics Council to review the written proposals of three potential providers before narrowing down the choice to two, securing their best offers, and making their recommendation to me. The Council consulted various stakeholders, including students and parents.
Grade School and High School Physical Education programs ensure that all students have basic training in swimming, which is a life skill. It is also through the swimming program in the PE curriculum that we can identify potential athletes for competitive swimming. Our partnership with the BLSS will help us realize this objective in the most optimal way, and at the same time provide excellent support for club and varsity activities.
The BLSS System has been consistently producing high caliber swimmers in school as well as national and international competitions. They are active promoters of water safety by equipping students with basic lifesaving skills in the water.
We look forward to collaborating with the BLSS in forming our students in human and Christian values through engagement in swimming.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our two-year partner, Coach A. Lim (CAL) Swim School, under which the swimming program has dramatically improved in terms of competitive swimming. The CAL Swim School has developed prominent swimmers who continue to perform excellently in collegiate, national and international swimming. In particular, let me thank the head coach, Ms. Maria Georgina Gandionco, for her guidance of our swimmers.
With the return of a previous partner into the Xavier Swimming Program, I am confident that the school’s Swimming Program will achieve greater heights of excellence.
Thank you very much.
