With six weeks only, the third quarter of school year 2016-2017 was very short. The school community, specially the students, had to juggle academic, specialization, and extra-curricular concerns during this time. Indeed, much had to be done. Thankfully, at the end of it all, everyone got the reprieve they have always longed for.

After the last day of regular classes on Thursday, December 15, the faculty and staff gathered at AVRs 1 and 2 in the Main Building for their annual Christmas party. This year’s committee, headed by Business Office staff Miss Pfeiffer Angela Garlan, did an impressive job of decorating the venue. The Christmas color and spirit was very much evident and felt. Jointly hosted by this writer and Business Office staff and Music teacher Mr. Elmer Bueno, the brief but fun program consisted of Christmas messages by the principal, Mr. Peter Marc Magsalin and the assistant principal for academics, Mr. Ernesto Chua, Jr., Christmas carols by the ERDA Tech Chorale, a raffle, community singing, an exchange of gifts, and of course, a sumptuous early dinner, complete with the all-time Filipino favorite, lechon.

On Friday, December 16, the day’s celebration began with an institutional mass presided by Dominican priest Fr. Larry de Dios, a former schoolmate and dear friend of the school principal. Afterward, a program hosted by the Student Body Organization (SBO) was held at the patio. It consisted of games participated in by students, faculty, and staff, the awarding of the winners in the lantern-making competition, performances by the school band, String Gravity and the ERDA Tech Chorale, and a Christmas message by Mr. Peter Marc Magsalin. Lunch followed at the Basketball Court. Each section had a designated place, together with faculty and staff assigned to every class. The community was very happy eating and chatting together while Christmas songs were being played. The highlight of the morning’s festivities was the distribution of Christmas baskets and other goodies to the students, faculty, and staff.

Such is the good fortune of ERDA Tech. Its sponsors and benefactors, headed by school board member Attorney Charlemagne Yu, untiringly find ways to help the community, particularly the students. These kind-hearted people truly deserve ERDA Tech’s gratitude.
