The Alumni Association of Xavier School held its very successful 28th Induction and Turnover Ceremonies for its Board of Trustees last June 21, 2017 at the Angelo King Center in Xavier School. Despite the heavy rains and the traffic gridlock in the area, the ceremony broke the historic attendance record for being the most well-attended induction affair in the alumni association’s 57-year history with almost 400 alumni, guests, and friends in attendance.

Prominent alumni, including senators, congressmen, successful business personalities and many of society’s influential personalities were on hand to witness the formal event. Sizeable delegations from the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Alumni Associations, the Anvil Business Club, and the Junior Chamber International Philippines, among others also graced the affair.

Led by incoming President Reginald T. Yu from the Class of 1984, the 15-man Board of Trustees was sworn in by Xavier School President, Fr. Aristotle C. Dy, S.J. (XS ’89).

JG Summit Holdings President and Chief Operating Officer, Lance Gokongwei (XS ’83), an alumnus of the school, served as the evening’s guest-of-honor. The Honorable Philippine Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito (XS ’87) was the keynote speaker during the event. Finally, the Mayor of San Juan City, The Honorable Guia Gomez, graced the inauguration ceremonies as a very special guest.

The event was primarily hosted by Gretchen Ho, one of the country’s most popular volleyball athletes and television personalities. Anthony Ferdinand Yu (XS ’87) lent a complementary comedic touch to the occasion as her co-host.

The very successful induction ceremonies ushered in a more dynamic set of younger leaders for the alumni association. With an encouraging response from the many alumni who witnessed the new board’s first major undertaking, the induction ceremonies is seen to open a new page in the rich history of the AAXS and is touted to be an auspicious portent of things to come for the next two years.
