ReCYCLE 2017: A Summit on Sustainable Living

Sustainable living takes an exciting, fun twist as the Green Team launches its first ever bike clinic, ReCycle. Created in partnership with the award-winning student organization, UP Bike Share, students from all over the Metro are cordially invited to participate in the series of talks, activities and lessons.

ReCYCLE: A Summit on Sustainable Living is an event hosted by a collaboration of the Xavier Green Team and UP Bike Share. With the goal of encouraging alternative, eco-friendly means of transportation, ReCYCLE will include a beginner bike clinic, an intermediate safety seminar, and finally, a bike tour around the UP Diliman Campus.

The event is open to all high school students. Participants need not bring their own bicycle, nor have any prior knowledge on how to ride a bike. it will be held at the UP Institute of Mathematics next August 19, from 1-5pm, free of charge.

While this is just one of many clinics organized by UP Bike Share, it will be the first one catering specifically to high school students, in coordination with Xavier’s own Green Team. The clinic will focus on the use of bikes as a means of promoting sustainable living and reducing one’s carbon footprint. More than the environmental benefits alone however, the clinic will also address the practical benefits and issues that come with using a bike as a means of transportation.
