Xavier School is pleased to announce that Mrs. Jane Cacacho, Grade School Principal and Mr. Keith Sy, Grade School Social Studies teacher have been selected as Apple Distinguished Educators (ADE) for the Class of 2017.
In 2016, Mrs. Cacacho led the successful 1:1 iPad Pilot Program in Grade 6, which is in full implementation this school year. She was also the Principal when the 1:1 iPad Program in high school began. Mr. Sy, for his part, continues his work on innovating the teaching of Social Studies to his Grade 6 students as he explores and effectively employs flipped learning and gamification strategies with technological tools such as iPad apps in his different classes.
Xavier School teachers continue to be at the forefront of technology integration in learning and teaching. In 2016, Xavier School was recognized as an Apple Distinguished School. In 2015, Mr. Francis Jim Tuscano, CLE Department Chair and EdTech Coach, was recognized as an Apple Distinguished Educator while in 2013, Mrs. Jessica Demegillo, NEXT Department Chair, was added to the roster of innovative educators. Former members of the Xavier School community like Fr. Johnny Go, Mr. Galvin Ngo, and Mrs. Jade Bata were also recognized as ADE due to their various innovative approaches to 21st century education at Xavier School.
Mrs. Cacacho and Mr. Sy, together with Mrs. Demegillo and Mr. Tuscano, joined the Apple Distinguished Educators from Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia for the ADE Academy in Melbourne, Australia last July 6-9, 2017.
