Last August 11-16, 2017, the China Western Mathematical Invitation (CWMI) was held in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, China. The competition format of the CWMI was proof-based, similar to the International Math Olympiad (IMO). It focused on a number of different topics, ranging from geometry to number theory, sequences and series, and probability.
With a number of different participants from top high schools in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan, the Philippine contingent bagged 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals. Xavier School’s very own Xuanye Li of G12A was a member of the Philippine contingent of the said competition and took home a silver medal.
Xavier School congratulates Xuanye for bringing pride and glory not only to Xavier School but to the Philippines as well. Luceat lux!
