Last August 4-7, 2017, the 13th International Mathematics Contest ( IMC ) was held in Singapore. The Philippine delegation, composed of elementary and high school students, won 33 gold, 66 silver, and 146 bronze medals. The Philippines ranked first among 14 participating countries in the medal tally, followed by China and Thailand.
Two grade school and three high school students from Xavier School won medals during the competition. These students are: Alexander Ryan Manuel of Grade 5F (bronze), Joaquin Malachi de Castro of Grade 6A (bronze), Sean Eugene Chua of Grade 8A (Gold), Matthew Tansiongkun of Grade 9B (silver), and Richwyn Cedric Ong of Grade 9C (bronze).
