Two Xavier grade-schoolers competed in the recent RoboRumble Vex Robotics tournament hosted by International School Manila last Oct. 20 and 21st, 2017. After competing against nine other teams from International School Manila, Beacon School, and Team Wasabi from Tondo Manila, Sebastian Silva (Gr4A) and Miguel Silva (Gr2I) won the Judges’ Award. The award was given to the team with the most innovative design feature. The innovation of the boys was changing the gear ratio which made their robot (named Kelva) run faster than others in the competition. They were also the youngest participants in the competition where all other competitors were in grade 7 and older. They are excited at the possibility of starting a VEX robotics club in Xavier School.
