Xavier School Nuvali

Xavier School Nuvali 光启学校内湖分校 opened in June 2012 welcoming the first generation of 138 students in Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 2, and Grade 3. The new school offers the same K – 12 college preparatory curriculum including the core Chinese language program and Jesuit formation that are the hallmarks of a Xavier education.

More about Xavier School Nuvali

The new school offers a flexible coeducational system. Flexible coeducation allows boys and girls to be educated separately in particular classes and grade levels to address the different learning paces and styles and formative needs, while offering the opportunities in others to interact and learn together.

A primary mandate of the school is to offer financial assistance to a target 25% of the school population. While the objective makes the Xavier education accessible to a greater number of students from lower income groups, the benefits are far from one-sided. The presence of these scholars is expected to have a transformative influence on the culture of the school as a whole, promoting a greater sense of solidarity and understanding. For SY 12-13, 21% of the students were accepted on scholarship.

Xavier School Nuvali is situated in a 15-hectare property in the heart of Nuvali, a new eco-community development of Ayala Land in Calamba, Laguna.

The first phase of development includes the Henry Sy, Sr. Primary School Building, the Ramon S. Ang gymnasium and the Anthony and Justa Lee Student Leadership Center (housing the Samuel L. Lee Library and John Tiu Ka Cho Multipurpose Center), and the Oratory of St. Francis Xavier.

The campus master plan and school facilities were designed on the principle of sustainability. The buildings use eco-friendly materials and fixtures, natural and energy-efficient lighting, and a rainwater collection and recycling system. More importantly, the learning spaces are designed to develop 21st-century skills. Classrooms and activity areas are equipped with the proper IT infrastructure to allow students access to a whole world of resources. This will support the school’s One2One computer-based approach that promotes self-directed learning.

Future developments include the central administration building, an auditorium, another gymnasium (with swimming pool), two football fields, two tennis courts, and separate buildings for the middle school and high school units. The plan also provides for dormitories, residences and a retreat house.
